About me

Dr Leanne Hayward is a UK-trained private consultant psychiatrist with over 20 years’ post-qualification experience, who specialises in General Adult, Perinatal and Workplace Mental Health. She is also trained in Adult ADHD diagnosis/treatment and is an Expert Witness for Family and Civil proceedings. Dr Hayward is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Hayward’s mental health career includes experience in Adult, Older Adult, Forensic and Addiction Psychiatry. She has held NHS Consultant roles in Acute Hospital Liaison, Community Perinatal, Crisis and Home Treatment & Women’s Inpatient Services. Between 2016-2019 she set up the BNSSG Specialist Community Perinatal Mental Health Services and was appointed NHS-England South-West Clinical Lead for the Perinatal & Infant Mental Health Network. Dr Hayward is well placed to support patients aged 18+ who present with acute or long-term mental health conditions. Due to her specialist training in liaison and perinatal/women’s mental health, she can support those with co-morbid physical and mental health conditions including mental health difficulties during perimenopause. In her private practice, Dr Hayward takes a holistic, evidence-based approach to a patient’s wellbeing and recovery, considering all relevant biological, psychological and social factors, building a tailored treatment plan including appropriate medication and therapies, and (if required) providing referrals to trusted, highly-qualified therapists to support ongoing recovery. Dr Hayward provides private pre-pregnancy and perinatal assessments for those families who seek additional specialist input, and who may not meet the threshold for referral/access into Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Services. Perinatal services include assessments for fathers/partners. Dr Hayward also has a small medico-legal practice, providing reports for the Family and CiviI Court, and is experienced in undertaking Educational/Workplace Fitness to Study/Work Assessments. She also provides mental health training and support to corporate & community organisations.
